The road to Govind Ghat is a 10 to 11 hour journey through some prominent tourist destinations. Our first stop is Devprayag, where Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga. From there we move along winding roads and pass a couple more tourist temple towns along the way. We also drive past Joshimath which is a major halt for tourists visiting Auli, Badrinath, Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. Just an hour before Badrinath is where we will be halting for the night, which is also the starting point of our trek – Govind Ghat. We will be staying at a simple guest house. After settling in, we will take the time to get acquainted with the group and prepare for the trek the next day.
